Summer Camps

summerEnjoy day camps that combine enrichment activities with traditional recreational opportunities. Sports, games, swimming, field trips and crafts combine with interesting learning themes to create an exciting summer. All activities are included in the fee -- there are no extra charges! All of Durham Public Schools’ Summer Camps are licensed by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services Division of Child Development. They operate from 7am until 6 pm, Monday-Friday for seven weeks during the summer. The camps are for rising 1st – 6th graders.

Fees

Fees are due upon registration. We regret that we cannot accept registrations from families with overdue Community Education accounts. Please view the plan options and fees below to find the best fit for your child.

 

Plan 1: first session multi-week

                $30 registration fee per child

                $365 per child/$185 due at registration; final $180 due at a later date

Plan 2: Second session multi-week

                $30 registration fee per child

                $490 per child/$240 due at registration; final $250 due at a later date

Plan 3: Weekly

                $30 registration fee per child

                $135 per week for the first child

                $125 per week for additional children in the same family

Lunches and Snacks

Breakfast and lunch will be provided from June 20 - July 29; however, parents will need to provide a morning and afternoon snack. For the last week of camp, August 1 - 5 children will need to bring a lunch, a morning and afternoon snack.

The summer camps are licensed programs, therefore lunches and snacks must meet federal nutrition requirements. The Summer Camp Parent Handbook will describe the requirements.

Neal Start Your Engines!

Community Education will provide a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math) themed summer camp using the Ten80 Racing Challenge Curriculum as part of the NASCAR Stem initiative.

Start Your Engines! participants will:

Build and race radio controlled model cars in teams

Apply real-world STEAM principles

Create logos, branding, and marketing materials

Receive support and guidance for the middle school transition

Develop leadership skills

Participate in enrichment and recreational activities, field trips, and more
